This sequential art work is a departure from the range

of tones contained in my works to date. While I

generally shy away from directly addressing current

social or political items (and this story does take place

in 1966) the general subject is still a matter of

sensitivity and pain in our society today. This is not a

children's story even though most of the characters are

children. This is not a feel good story and not a subtle

dance of words and images that encourage the viewer

to take away their own interpretations. My best

description is that this is a discomfiting story presented

with the thought that no one's voice should be silenced

concerning events that are influential in their path

through life. My hope is that the value of this story is as

a starting point for meaningful discussion.
